Director’s Round Up

Dear Members, whilst I am writing this for the 19th News we are only a couple of days off celebrating Christmas and New Year, and hasn’t time flown. So has the time I have spent on the board with a great team of directors trying to make a difference to secure the future of our club. Not all changes are popular but believe you me, we are doing it with the best interest of the members at heart.

I am pleased to say that as Tim mentioned, in October we’ve traded into the positive figures as well as November.

We have seen a great turnout of people visiting our club which is part of the positive direction we have taken. Linda Mathieson is helping in a great way with our social media such as Facebook and Instagram which puts our club out there for the public to be found. I would like to, thank Linda on behalf of all the Board and members for her work as a volunteer.

We have had our Turkey day which was a great success. With 280 players during the two sessions and 100 Turkeys as prizes at presentation, the whole club house was packed with people, plus with the band “The Bell” playing live music on the night adding to a great day.

As was our 3rd twilight golf night on the 5th, a great night where we saw lots of new faces and people returning to the club to hang out like the old days. Again on the night, the clubhouse was full of people and many enjoying a nice meal afterwards. Lots of comments have come in from people about how our course is in such good nick, especially since we are experiencing the worst drought in history.

Again on the Friday we had a full house with the raffle, members draw and live music. Let me say whist those nights are so popular with people coming to our club, this is a positive for all of us. We need to remember people have lots of options and alternatives in our surrounding areas, so when they choose our club, this is definitely a positive outcome.

Please keep spreading the word that we are a friendly club and open to the public.

As from the New Year the Dragon on the Green Restaurant will have six additional dishes added to the menu, they are as follow;

  • $17.80 Hokkien Noodles – with chicken, prawns & green vegetables
  • $16.50 Teriyaki Chicken – served with jasmine rice & salad
  • $15.50 Nasi Goreng – Indonesian spicy fried rice with chicken & fried egg
  • $19.00 Thai Green Chicken Curry – served with rice
  • $19.00 Malaysian Beef Curry – served with roti & salad
  • $16.50 Chicken Karage – Japanese style fried chicken pieces served with salad, chips and Japanese mayonnaise
  • $17.50 Thai Beef Salad – tender beef strips cooked medium, with mixed leaves, cherry tomatoes, spanish onions, coriander, cucumber, bean sprouts and spicy Thai dressing

Another initiative the Board has approved is that during the month of your birthday, you can now receive a bottle of wine or a jug of soft drink if you prefer rather than the wine. This is all in line with the RSA laws, where our club has taken the approach to offer you, our members an alternative.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the board and all the staff to wish you and your extended family a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2020.

Hit them well and hit them straight.

Henk Van Diggele – Director
