This week I start with Timesheets. The chart represents Green Fees for June over the past 4 years. Members will note the significant increase this year. This has both positive and negative impact. The positive is obvious but the negative is less palatable.
Increasingly, your Board and Management is being harassed by Members missing out on a game. The simple fact is that there are not enough spots, period. Your Board and Management have done everything possible to improve the situation. But, enough is enough, your Board will not tolerate this - stop it.
Part of the problem can directly be pointed at Members. Playing more than twice a week; everyone in the group logging in to get more chances of a spot (which overloads the systems), etc. We are repeatedly told that some "must be rigging the system". So, a simple message - if you are rigging the system in any way - stop it. Members should be aware that everything is logged and traceable.
If your Board finds out that any Member is rigging the system, there will be an appointment with the Board. I cannot guess what the Board will decide but would bet good money that you will not be playing golf for a while.
Members will be aware of the events occurring in Melbourne and how hundreds of businesses have again closed their doors and entire suburbs locked down.
Research is showing that these outbreaks are often attributed to "super-spreaders" who ignore social-distancing and frequent closed areas such as bars. All Members are reminded to keep your social distance and maintain regular hand sanitisation.
Following the Premier's lead, people who visit Melbourne or come into contact with Melbournians should not come into the Club for 14 days after contact. Whilst this may seem harsh, your Board feels that it is better to be safe than sorry.
