Master Pennants

Week 3 - Sunday, 2 June:  The Master Pennant team were very fortunate to be able to play our third match against Brighton Lakes at home. Following a close inspection of the Course due to the amount of rain we had leading up to the match it was deemed playable, under strict playing conditions. Both teams were conducive to these strict conditions and the match went ahead as scheduled resulting in an impressive 8 nil victory to North Ryde.

Week 4 - Sunday, 9 June:  The following week, we were drawn to play Brighton Lakes at their home course. Despite the result we had the previous week we did not expect an easy match and we certainly didn't get one. It was a tough struggle from the start with very little between all the players. In the end it was a loss to North Ryde going down 4.5 to 3.5 with Brighton Lakes winning 4 matches 2 &1 - North Ryde winning 3 matches and squaring one for a half - a very close result indeed in a match that went well over 5 hours.

We have 2 matches remaining in the Sectionals with North Ryde a half point on top of the table in a very tight Competition. This Sunday, 16 June we are playing Northbridge at home, with all welcome to come along and support the Team.

Catering Update

The Club's Catering Tender was very successful and we were fortunate to have attracted many quality applications.  Following the cutoff date the applicants were considered and a shortlist was compiled.

A selection committee has been carefully reviewing the applicants against a standardised set criteria.

We look forward to completing the process shortly and advising members.

Jackpot Winner

Last Friday evening, 7 June was the $2000 Jackpot Members CASH DRAW after the ever-popular Friday night weekly meat raffle. As usual drawing many hopeful Members, so it was an audience on the edge of their seats as many names were drawn out with no winners present. At last, a winner was drawn who was in the Club, Gordon Edwards. Gordon claimed the $2000 CASH JACKPOT to enthusiastic clapping throughout the Club.

Gordon Edwards is a well-known face and certainly present most Friday nights as he volunteers his time and passion for the Club in helping raise the money for Legacy through our weekly Meat Raffe. Congratulations Gordon.

This week Friday, 14 June after the Meat Raffle the Members Cash Draw starts again at $500 with one Member's number drawn each week, if the Lucky Member is not in the Club (unlucky), then it will increase each week by $100 until we are once more at the $2,000 JACKPOT.

A Grade Darts

Another stellar season for the Tom Crockart led A Grade side making the finals again by finishing in 3rd place on the ladder. No luck however in the sudden death semi going down to the "Evergreen" Neil Balantine and his Gladesville Sporties who have advanced to another GF - Good luck Neil!

For our boys it was an up and down Winter comp that saw us down on troops in several matches, but we gelled as usual, putting on great performances to make it as far as we did.

Special mention goes to Dell Crockart with a fantastic season averaging 58.70 placing him in the top 5 players all year and to the fast-improving Dan Fazzolari in only his 2nd comp averaging 48.70, up from 44 last year.

Thanks to all our rock-solid team for yet another competitive and fun packed campaign, edging closer to the "Holy Grail" A Grade title - so bring on the Summer Comp!

A golfer sliced a ball into a field of chickens, striking one of the hens and killing it instantly. He was understandably upset and sought out the farmer. "I'm sorry," he said, "my terrible tee-shot hit one of your hens and killed it. Can I replace the hen?"

"I don't know about that," replied the farmer, mulling it over. "How many eggs a day do you lay?"
