3rd Hole in One for OCT

This marks the third Hole in One this month at North Ryde and the third for Pravin Patel, accomplished on Monday, October 21. Perhaps it's time for Pravin to buy a lottery ticket or place a bet on his favorite horse for the upcoming Melbourne Cup! With three Holes in One, I'd say more skill than luck. Congratulations, Pravin.

Two of Pravin's Holes in One were achieved on the 18-hole at North Ryde Golf Club during a competition and the third was made at Chatswood Golf Course in their event. On the day of his latest feat, Pravin mentioned that the group in front was measuring for nearest to the pin, which led to a discussion among his group about needing a Hole in One to beat their score. Moments later, Pravin's shot landed just left of the flag and rolled right into the hole...Certainly a reason to smile, congratulations once again!

Retrieving Balls from the Dams

With the extremely low levels of the dam we ask you to please not enter the dams or to walk on the banks to retrieve your golf balls, as the banks are steep and slippery. Although we understand the pain when a ball goes rogue and takes a dive into a dam, your safety is of prime importance.

Remember at all times when retrieving a ball to keep pace of play in mind, that you are not impeding others and limit at all times your risk of falling in - thank you.

Opera in the Club

Get ready to grab your tickets for this year's Opera Extravaganza! Dust off that party gear, rally your friends and family, and prepare for a night of pure enchantment.

Indulge in a three-course feast featuring a choice of scrumptious starters: King prawns with a zesty mango avocado salsa or baked chicken stuffed with walnuts and a rocket parmesan salad. For mains, go for a hearty medley of seasonal roasts (turkey, ham, pork) with baked veggies, or dive into steamed ocean perch fillets topped with fresh asparagus & carrot batons, all drizzled with ginger soy sauce and served with potato gratin. And don't forget dessert! Choose between delightful Christmas pudding with custard or a seasonal fruit medley with fresh berries.

As you dine, be mesmorised by Australia's opera elite, seamlessly blending classical, contemporary, and musical theatre magic-talk about a showstopper! Then, lace up those dancing shoes and groove to the DJ's tunes well into the night.

All this for just $75 for Members and $90 for Non-Members, including 4-hour drink package.

Bookings open online soon; where not only can you book and pay for your seats you can choose your main meal. Seats will vanish fast, so get your crew together and be ready to book when you receive your emailed invitation as bookings open.

Member David Roughly

Saturday, 19 October it was wonderful to see Life Member David Roughly accompanied by his wife Nolene and sons, celebrating his Birthday in the Club.

At 94 years old, David is one of our longest-standing members, having been both a playing and social member for over 72 years. He has undoubtedly witnessed many changes at the Club now in our 75th anniversary year.

In our Club History book, "A Vision Unfolding," David recalls a time when open creeks dotted the course and the landscape was so bare of trees that players could easily be distinguished from the Clubhouse. Notably, David claimed his first Club Championship in 1954 and secured his second title in 1960, overcoming a four-stroke deficit in the first half with four birdies at the end of the day to clinch victory.

It was heartwarming to see such a dedicated long-term member still celebrating with us - pictured left to right, son Scott, David, Nolene his wife of 65 years and son Craig.
