Weekly Course Update

Following on from the soil testing of the fairways last month the results showed that the soil P.H was low and required correction at a rate of 500 kg of dolomite per hectare, this application has been applied and fortunately we received 30 mm of rain over the next few days to wash it in nicely. A number of fairways (8,11,13 and 15) were under performing because of much lower P.H than the others and these received double the rate.

This week’s work has mainly been what I call a housekeeping week, all bunker edges have been trimmed, all course sprinkler heads cut around, plus all valve box’s and drainage pits, a very time-consuming process. In addition, all our normal mowing has been carried out with most of the roughs being cut twice due to the strong growth at the moment.
