Weekly Course Update
The last hot days of the season have seemed to have finished at last, though the good conditions have certainly helped with fairway growth and improvement of the surface. This past week has seen smaller bare areas cut out and new turf placed along with many other areas receiving some top dressing. Other large bare sections in and around high traffic and visual areas have been rotary hoed to relieve compaction and new soil added (rhs 2nd path at green, 3rd fwy around trees, 5th tee path end and rhs 6th green surrounds) new turf is scheduled to arrive and be laid on Monday.
The dams have received another aquatic herbicide treatment to kill the duck weed which spreads so rapidly when the weather conditions are right, hopefully with the cooler temperature’s growth will stop.
18th fwy, right hand side drainage pit area- the storm-water pipe has opened up at the join between the two pipes so when we receive heavy rainfall the water blows out, to carry out this repair we need to pump the wetland pond out, as the water backs up the pipe filling the hole with water, once empty I can then fill around the pipe with concrete. Unfortunately, every time I plan to fix it rain is forecast.
