A Word From the  Vice President

Hi all, while writing this I can hardly contain my EXCITEMENT for the week to come. As you know the Club Committee along with the Board has come up with several initiatives to reinvigorate the club for both members and guests.

This Friday the 18th October sees the first of these initiatives. EXCITING Members Cash Draw, open to all members both golf and social, starting at $500 with a possible $5000 big winner. ENCOURAGE family and friends to join the club as a social member and attend the club on Fridays or any day, I can’t think of a more pleasant place in  Ryde to have a drink and enjoy the company of others not to mention the best view in the district while having a refreshing ale. Don’t forget HAPPY HOUR 5 days a week. ENTERTAINMENT this Friday also sees then return of live Entertainment to the club in many years, to add some joy and atmosphere to the bar and restaurant.

EXTRA INVOLVEMENT AND FUN, as you know we have a loyal following for our Friday Meat raffles, however the Board believes by making a simple change we can make the draw more interesting, increase ticket sales and in turn increase revenue for the Diggers day, the Diggers themselves and most importantly for Diggers Charities. As we ask the community at large to support the club through its golf and hospitality business, the Board believes it is imperative that we support the community in which we operate.

The only way we can succeed in growing the business of the club to ensure its future is if each and every member that enjoys the bounty of the past that has provided us with a world class golf course and club supports these initiatives and spreads the good word to others.

Which leads me to our Volunteers Program, we have a number of volunteers helping in a variety of areas, if you have a skill and some time on your hands and your passionate about the club and your fellow members please contact me, you will never know if you never ask .

Right now, I’m calling for volunteers on Friday nights to help conduct the raffles. A big voice and a bigger personality preferred but not essential, that means you too ladies, all training provided.

On a personal note I had one of the most wonderful evenings at the Club when I and my class mates from Eastwood Marist Class of 1979 celebrated our 40 year reunion. Naturally it was me that recommended the Golf club and with old friends coming from Europe, England, Canada and interstate I was confident our caterer Uli and staff as well as our Amanda and her team would deliver, and deliver they did, it was a brilliant evening that went very well, not to mention 2 other functions on the same evening. Amanda I can’t thank you enough.

200 of us enjoyed a brilliant night at the Commemoration dinner, so if you or your family are considering holding a function keep us in mind, you get good food, a venue with a view and great service. Growing our function business also goes a long way to a fruitful future for the Club.

And last by no means least let’s not forget our fabulous Pro Shop, Marty, Steve and their staff. Not only do they make the start of our day organised and enjoyable they offer better value than any of the chain stores. Marty has put Foot Joy Contour Fit shores on for $129 – Reduced from $199 that’s nearly half price!! I bought a pair the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn, golf or otherwise.

This has been a long report, I promise to make the next one short and sweet but it is so important that I see as many of you as possible this Friday, from this we can flourish.

Cheers, Head down and follow through – Alex Cicchini Vice President
