Captain’s Corner

I would like to start by saying thank you to Ben Brown. I have been on holiday for four weeks and during that time away the Club had the Championships, Foursome Championship and the time sheet trial. Ben took over as Captain and did a great job. Once again thanks Ben and also Greg Sheaves who assisted Ben during this busy time.

As I just mentioned the Club Championships, I would like to thank everyone who competed in the event, what makes it such a good event is the whole club getting involved. Congratulations to the winners.

Always a special thing to win the championship in any grade. Well done!

On Saturday the 16th was the final round of the Foursomes Championship, this year the field and number who wished to qualify was up on last year which is great to see. Congratulations to the winners.

A Grade Ben Wilson & Luke Cincotta   146
B Grade David Mead & Steve Panetta   165
C Grade Gordon Edwards & Ron Lawson   187
D Grade Phil Town Ted Brick   209

Special Mention to Luke Cincotta who won the Match Play, Club Championship and Foursomes all in the one year, it shows that the more you practice, you will get the results.

Events coming up between now and Christmas.

  • Club Christmas Party – This Saturday 23rd November looking forward to a great night.
  • Hams Day – Saturday 7th December. This is always a great day and has a big field. Make sure to get a group and put your name down.
  • Christmas Turkey Day – Wednesday 11th of December, this event has a 7am & 12.15pm shotgun starts. Once again grab a team & get a spot for another great day.
  • Twilight Golf – Book now for the last 2 Twilight Nine & Dine events of the year December the 5th & 19th. Two nights of golf and fun not to be missed and on the 19th there is a special Christmas menu with prize for the best dressed team!

As most of you are aware the Saturday time sheet trial has concluded, the Golf Committee and the Board will review the trial and inform members of the outcome. We have received useful feedback from many members which we will be taking notice of.

Lastly course conditions, on my return I was pleasantly surprised at how good the condition of the course was. We will definitely be praying for some rain now as the course is just starting to dry out. Our dams are at approximately 65% of capacity which will start to drop pretty quickly in these conditions.

Good Golfing. Glenn Woodley – Captain
