A Message from our Vice President

Hello to all my NRGC family. Between Christmas Holidays, constant changes in COVID 19 procedures and regulations to deal with, it has been sometime since I’ve had a chance to catch up.

Looks like we are all back to a new normal at least. The Board, in concert with Management and the Restaurant, have made some changes that have been embraced by members and visitors alike. The result being a better atmosphere, leading to more patronage in the Club, which in turn has seen good results in Bar and Restaurant revenues.

We still have some way to go to match pre-Covid numbers in the Club but with the resurgence in golf, along with initiatives taken to encourage people from the golf course into the Club house, it’s definitely driving much of the improvement. I can’t stress enough the importance of supporting the Club, not only does it help the Board and Management strive for better Member services and facilities in the Club, it’s also the catalyst for the continuing changes and improvements on our much beloved Golf Course such as the rebuild of the 18th green. (No bunker at the front anymore – hallelujah)

A big thankyou from Gordon, Ross, Steve and myself to members and guests for supporting Friday Night Meat Raffles. These are proving to be as popular as ever after our small break, allowing us to make a sizable donation to Legacy on Diggers Day.   “Oh “and don’t forget this Friday Members’ Cash Draw is now up to a whopping$2,050.00. All this adds to the fun on Friday nights. See you Fridays from 5.30pm, the more tickets you buy, the more chances you have to take home one of our great value, high quality meat trays.

The Car Draw has been rebooted with the Board moving the key draws to two Saturday evening (19 March and 30 April) for the last two months. We want to give all Members a greater chance to be present at the draw to win their chance to be a finalist on the final Draw night on April 30. So, grab a drink and put those main bar dockets in the Barrell! Keep an eye out for details each week, as noted the next Saturday draw is 19 March from 5:30pm.

Wednesdays are a revelation with our free Trivia night going gangbusters from humble beginnings to 70 -80 participants and there is room for more!!  Fun, coupled with good company and the enjoyment of the Restaurant’s bistro style offering for dinner while you play, it’s a great way to spend a Wednesday night. Get some friends, come along and have a go, TRIVA starts 7pm.  We have some very clever and highly competitive members, who knew?

A fabulous initiative to bring Thursday nights back to life is the $15.00 Schnitzel and drink offer, what a good way to give yourself a break from the kitchen. It’s wonderful to see Members and family groups taking advantage of this special. Of course, all your favourite Chinese dishes are also available. The Restaurant is now offering a range of bistro dishes as well, Burger and Chips my favourite!

This brings me to the weekend, specifically this SATURDAY. Another wet and miserable Saturday, the thought of staying home and watching an old movie again just terrifies me. The Club has you covered whether the course is open or closed GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. If it’s too wet for golf, meet your friends up at the Club for a drink and a game of cards (cards available behind the bar), or BYO board games – challenge the gang to a game of Monopoly?  Here’s some of what’s on offer:

  • Happy Hour 12noon – 5pm
  • Autumn Races on the Big Screen
  • Games Day – cards or BYO Board Games
  • Great Food
  • Best Place & Company Available

This Saturday apart from the regular lunch time Aussie and Chinese Meals, this SATURDAY the Club has put on a wet weather SPECIAL – Pie and Chips for only $8.00 (no members discount), comfort food at its best.

I look forward to getting back to my regular 19TH NEWS contributions. I look forward to announcing new and exciting initiatives to carry the Club forward (one initiative coming “Something About Sundays” just a teaser, details to come) but most of all I look forward to seeing all of you, my NRGC family around the Club smiling and healthy. Please be careful and drive to these current wet conditions.

Head down follow through,
Cheers Alex Cicchini  – Vice President
