A message from the Vice President
Hello to my NRGC family, a couple of weeks ago I hinted at some exciting news to come, here it is!
I’m proud to announce a fantastic new event to put in our calendars SUPER SUNDAY.
Super Sunday is a family fun day for Members and the community to be held on the 1st or 2nd Sunday of each, month depending on the date.
What is SUPER SUNDAY? Originally born out of an idea around Golf Presentations. In recent times myself and other Board members have held Golf Presentations at the completion of competitions to an audience of only few people and quite often the Day’s Winners are not in the club to receive the prize and be presented to their fellow members. We understand people and families are busy and after a round of golf and a couple of drinks, members simply can’t afford the time to stay around for several hours waiting for the presentation.
With this in mind, a concept was devised to hold a Super Presentation once a month on a Sunday afternoon to present all the winners from the PREVIOUS MONTH from all competitions – Vets, Ladies and Men. (Daily presentations will still go ahead if there are enough players in the club at the completion of competitions and the winners will still be posted on the notice board as usual.)
This will not just be for presentations to members that have won a competition but a Family Fun Day for all Members of the Community, plus their friends and family. We are working on providing more events not only to our members but to the wider community to enjoy our fabulous club.
Imagine (I can only imagine) wining a competition and being presented not just in front of your fellow golfers but also having the joy of your family, friends and neighbours there as well and of course sharing a relaxing drink and maybe an early dinner. Even if you don’t win, what a great way to spend an afternoon socialising up with no washing up!!
There will be FREE live entertainment every SUPER SUNDAY.
The non-golfing families in our community are catered to as well. Everyone is welcome to come on a Sunday afternoon enjoy a drink and an early dinner in the company of family and friends. This is a kid’s friendly event to attract everyone in our community.
Our first SUPER SUNDAY will take place on Sunday 3 April so keep it free. A very popular local band, “The Cry Babies” will be performing from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, they play all the favourite classics from the 50’s to the 90’s (no duff duff music). Perfect timing for the golfers that hit off late to stay and have their families meet them at the Club, perfect for the earlier golfers to go home and do what they have to do and come back, also perfect for young and older families to enjoy the entertainment and still grab an early Sunday Dinner.
Presentations will be undertaken during breaks in the band’s performance around 5:30 and 6:30pm depending on how many winners have attended. An invitation will be sent to all the winners as a reminder. If you happen to win a competition and attend on the Sunday, not only do you get your prize for winning, you will receive a bonus prize for attending. However winners’ names will only be announced if they attend,
Your Board and Management enjoy putting on events for you, our members. So, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, along with friends and family at the first and subsequent SUPER SUNDAYS!
These free Sunday events are very popular at other venues so be sure to book a table in the Restaurant or be early to grab your spot in the Auditorium / Main Bar.
If you can’t get a table in the restaurant, not to worry, the Dragon on the Green team also offer your favourite Chinese Dishes, Bistro Style Service in the Main Bar and Auditorium so you can dance and eat at the same time .
