News from the VP

Hi NRGC family,

The club hosted two significant events this week.

On Sunday we held our first SUPER SUNDAY presentation / Family Fun Day. The event will be held every month with a different entertainer each time. For our first time, local band the Cry Babies entertained us with fabulous music from the 60’s to the 90’s. The event attracted members, patrons and their families including some that have never visited the club before. Many took advantage and stayed for dinner while they sat back or had a dance .

Visitors came from as far away as Engadine in the south up to the northern beaches. All loved the afternoon of entertainment and food with many keen to come back. (Just might have to work on the Volume).

As for presentations, the concept worked a treat, presenting the winners from March in front of family and friends. Unfortunately due to the weather there were not many competitions in March, in fact only 4 BUT 3 of the 4 winners came along for the presentation and had a good time as well. My maths says that’s a 75% up take.

As you can probably tell, I’m very pleased with how well the first event went and would like to take the opportunity to thank the members and visitors who lent their support in spite of the weather conditions. I look forward to showcasing many talented artists for the entertainment of members and guests with the next SUPER SUNDAY to be held on 1 May.

The second event took place on Monday at the Club where along with Bendigo Bank, we hosted the Macquarie Park Ryde Business Chamber – Business After Hours evening. I was on hand to welcome the Chamber to the Club on behalf of the Board and Members.

Essentially it is a chance for local business both big and small to network and of course share experiences to help each other succeed, as well as lobby all areas of government to help with the growth of business.

The Club is an integral part of this Business Community and we are happy to support the chamber as the continued success of local businesses impacts the business of our club, through the restaurant, the hiring of our facilities for conferences and team building and of course Charity Golf days which provides revenue for the Club and the Charity. More importantly in a wider sense when local business succeeds and grows it provides our families with local employment opportunities as well as high quality goods and services.

The support of the Chamber as well as other community groups is in line with the Board’s Strategic Plan. By working with our locals, including businesses, it strengthens our bond and position within the community which in turn makes the Club stronger.

P.S we managed to sell a couple functions and conferences on the night, now that’s networking in action!

Despite the weather we still have plenty of activity in the club, see you all for drink tonight at the Meat Raffle. Don’t be the person sitting at home if I call your name out for the badge draw, its worth $2300.00 but you have to be here to win, it’s your last opportunity before Easter. Meat Raffle and Members Draw will be back the Friday after Easter 22 April.

Head down and follow thru.
