Womens’ Update

Foursomes Championships:  Over the last 2 weeks, the women have contested the Foursomes Championships. This is a 2-round scratch event played in 3 divisions – Division 1 (GA handicap 0-20), Division 2 (GA handicap 20.1 – 29.0) and Division 3 (GA handicap 25.1-54).  The lowest marker of the pair determines the division the pair competes in.

Congratulations to the following winners of each of the divisions:
Division 1:  Helen Lee & Monica Shon with rounds of 92 and 92
Division 2:  Linda Mathieson & Bev Boyer with rounds of 97 and 99
Division 3:  Ann Conway & Pam Joy with rounds of 117 and 109

Congratulations also to the Runners-up in each division – Vicki Cunliffe & Sue Chim (Division 1), Sue Currie & Judy Merrick (Division 2) and Robyn Bond & Una Flanagan (Division 3).

Women’s Bronze ll and Bronze lll Representative Teams:  Thank you to all members of these representative teams for making the commitment to represent our club in these competitions. Once again it was a challenge to get all the games completed with all the rain, but we managed most of them.  Unfortunately, we were not able to come away with a win this year but there is always next year.

We would like to encourage more ladies to participate in playing pennants in all grades.  It is great for your golf and a great opportunity to play at clubs that you might not otherwise get the opportunity to play at.  If you would be interested in playing next year, please let myself or Judy Edmiston know.

Also, we are planning an introduction to Match Play/Pennants session covering the etiquette and rules of Match Play.  If you are not familiar with Match Play and would be interested in attending this session, please let us know.

Changes to the Womens’ Committee:  The Womens’ Committee would like to introduce our new committee members. Please welcome our President, Eve Sheppard and Vice President Lynne Jackson.  We would like to thank them for taking on the challenge and look forward to working with them. Our outgoing President Ann Dunlevy has agreed to stay on the committee to support Eve & Lynne. Ann has given her time so generously to the committee over the last seven years and we are so grateful for her dedication and continued support.  Marianne Mitchell has also agreed to join the committee and we are very happy to welcome her on board.

The Womens’ Weekend Vice President, Christine Allsopp has stepped down and we would like to thank her for her contribution and support over the last four years.  Sue Mezger has stepped up as Weekend Vice President and Kathleen Coales will be working with Sue as the weekend representatives. We look forward to working with them.
