Weekly Course Update

Weekly Course Update – 4th January 2019

Happy New Year to all and welcome to the new rules of golf, I hope you all are aware of the changes and make the most of them.
Summer has officially hit, temperatures reaching close to 40 degrees last Saturday by lunchtime. Temps peaked at 39 between 12-1pm and hung around the mid-30s until late afternoon. Similar temps are forecast for this Friday and Saturday.
Fortunately, due to the rainfall in spring and dam levels we are in a great position to accommodate these extreme conditions although greens may be a little on the soft and slow side due to extra watering as a result of the extreme temps.
Looking at the long term forecast the heat is set to ease off which would allow us to slowly get some speed and firmness in the greens leading into the Amateur Cup and pennant season.
The duckweed in the dams has been sprayed and a follow up application may be necessary in the next fortnight.
For those that may have noticed the nature strip along Lane Cove Rd has finally been mown by council this week, after making a few calls council informed us that they are unable to close lanes during the day time due the rail way upgrades, this is straight from RMS not council, fortunately they sent a few blokes with whipper snippers to tidy it up.
