Weekly Course Update
Another challenging start to the week with another storm on Saturday night with 31mm of rain falling and destroying bunker faces yet again, not that big of a deal as that job has been more than a weekly occurrence of late.
What made it more difficult this week was that on Monday we hosted a round of the Harvey Norman week of golf for juniors, 6.30am two tee start, and another group starting at 11.30am two tee, so another outstanding effort by my staff as we managed to have all bunkers repaired plus all course setup and mowing completed before start of play for the juniors to have an enjoyable day.
Currently we are experiencing the best weather conditions for at least the last three summers with good consistent rainfall and temperatures to match, with near perfect fairway turf cover plus at last, our roughs are starting to cover in and thicken up, which set’s the course up for a good Autumn/ Winter period. In regards to the rough, the whole course is being cut weekly fence to fence at 65mm which is the height year-round with a lot of areas receiving a second cut, so be reassured that even though it appears to be long and uncut it more than likely has been mown twice…… you just have to love a wet summer.
