Weekly Course Update

Weekly Course Update

What a week! Last weekend the course received 217mm of rain, destroying all the bunker faces and closing the course on Sunday due to being unplayable. At least we are 100% dam capacity. With the green’s renovations scheduled to start on Monday looking extremely doubtful it just a case of wait and see how the weather would impact the process, fortunately the rain stopped around 2.00pm Sunday afternoon meaning by Monday 5.00am we could start the coring.

The coring, scarifying, topdressing and 2 of the 3 fertiliser applications have been carried out with no problems providing excellent results considering the rainfall that we received. On Wednesday the greens were rolled to iron out the bumps and machine tracks with the 1st mowing at 4mm carried out on Thursday, and rolled again on Friday. Its possible I may need to apply another light top dressing due to the sand being damp and not filling the holes completely, this will be accessed next week.

Following completion of the greens reno’s the bunker repair work had to carried out along with all our normal maintenance mowing. The fairway turf that was due to go down on the 13th fairway this week was unable to be harvested at the turf farm due to the wet conditions, and will now be delivered on Monday.

My staff did a fantastic job this week under trying weather conditions to produce a great result for the membership. Well done.
