2020 HAMS DAY:  This year, Vet’s Hams Day is scheduled for 14th December however there will be some changes from previous years.

Firstly, there will not be a 2 Tee Start as indicated in the Fixtures Book, rather this will be replaced with Members starting at the 1st Tee from 8.30am onwards.  Having a 2 Tee Start creates problems with safe distancing on conclusion of Members’ rounds and this is discouraged by both the NSW Health Department and Golf Australia.

Secondly, there will be no BBQ at the conclusion, however we will be able to provide a sandwich and 2 drink vouchers (beer, wine or soft drink).  Cost per person will be $25 which will cover the game, a sandwich and 2 drink vouchers.

Finally, to qualify for a ham, Members will be required to have played 17 games since the start of the year and concluding on the game set down for 8th December.  (The Hams Day game does not contribute to a Member’s total games played for the year).  The required games to be played may decrease should we lose any future games due to course closures for whatever reason.  The Committee will keep you informed.

FYI, up to and including the game played on 17th August, the total games played is 10 and the remaining number of games to be played up to 8th December is 14., a potential of 24 games in total. (The days allocated for Scheduled course renovations and the Labour Day Public Holiday are taken into account)  The Golf Committee has confirmed that this year 70% of games have to be played by Members to qualify for a ham.  Therefore, 70% of 24 is 16.8 or 17 games.  Members will be kept informed on a regular basis as to the number of games they have played.  By Monday, 24th August, you will be able to view the list of Members and games played up to and including the 17th August this should enable each member to calculate their status come 8th December.  The list can be found on the Notice Board downstairs.

Members of the Committee have been receiving regular enquiries as to when we will return to our usual 7.00am start time.  Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a definitive date as the Golf Committee themselves are unsure due to COVID-19.  However, please be assured that we have indicated to the Golf Committee that your preference is for a return to a 7.00am start whenever that may be possible.  You will be informed when further information becomes available.
