Captain’s Report

New concrete road from greenkeepers shed

I would like to inform all members that from Monday 14th September we will be constructing a new concrete road out from the greenkeepers shed adjacent to the 13th tee. During construction there will be disruption around the 12th and 13th holes. Players will not be able to walk to the 13th tee the normal way and will have to walk back towards the 13th public tee. The board feels it would be extremely dangerous if players where to be walking back towards where other players will be hitting their drives off the 12th tee. Therefore, the 12th hole will be played as a short par 3 to reduce the risk of someone getting hit. Play on the 13th hole will be off the public tee which would also bring into play the people hitting off the 12th tee. I ask all players to obey the directions that will be put up and not enter the works zone. This temporary measure will be in place until approximately Friday 25th September. We have decided to keep the hole ratings the same as on the card as it is only for a short period of time.

Time Sheet emails

Over the past few weeks some members have not been receiving confirmation emails when deleting or booking in. Mi Club has fixed this issue but I do remind members that it is their responsibility to check that they are on or off the time sheet. You cannot rely on the confirmation emails, if you put your name down on the wait list you should check on the web site the night before to see whether you are on the sheet or not. As we are all aware time sheet spots are highly sought after and we don’t want members merely not turning up and denying others of a game.

Pace of play

Commencing last weekend the club is now more closely monitoring pace of play. In simple terms all we want is for you to keep up with the group in front. I would like to recommend that once you finish your round that you finalise your score and enter your cards or submit from the app as soon as possible. There have been a few members advise that they finished on time but had a drink or chat before they entered the score. We calculate the round times from when the scores are entered.

Course Renovations

On Monday and Tuesday the green staff completed the course renovations. All went well and with some good weather we hope that the course bounces back to its best quickly. As stated in previous news items the fairways and green surrounds were also cored. This coring went well, and the disruption of the fairways was far less that we anticipated.

Championship Events

Over the next couple of months, we will be playing some of our championship events. Club Championships, Foursomes and Mixed Foursomes. Please check the web site for all the fixtures as some dates have changed because of Covid 19. I would hate to see members missing out on playing because they didn’t know the dates.

Good Golfing
