Spring into 2021

COVID-19
I am not going to mention it again in my editorial, as there is so much good news to talk about as Spring kicks in (with a flourish) and we look forward to 2021.

Club Person of the Year
Nominations are open until 23 October for the Club Person of the Year. For full details please CLICK HERE.

Financial Performance
The Club has fared exceptionally well over the past few months with EBITDA for the six months ended August 31 at $395,804 up from $77,852 for the same period last year. Usually at this time of the year, Your Club has a Bank Overdraft of approximately $500,000; this year we are cash positive. This has allowed Your Board to strengthen Member Equity and implement several key Projects designed to lift revenue, improve Member Services and enhance facilities.

Projects
Some of the key Projects undertaken over the past few months include:

  • Halfway Bar (which has been incredibly well received);
  • Cooling facilities and beverage delivery;
  • Beautification of several areas including the Restaurant, 18th Garden and 13th Path; and
  • Better Entertainment options with improved viewing and alternatives.

Tab
Members may have noticed the Sky Sports Channels in the Lounge and we will soon have access to a TAB, which has been requested for many years. Recent changes to the size and costs have made this a possibility and we look forward to this being operational within the next week.

Signage
An electronic sign has been approved by Council for construction near the 18th Tee. This will replace the dated signs on the corner of Twin and Goulding. The sign will show Club and Community advertising and bring a new awareness of the Club to the many thousands of travellers every day. Construction is expected to be completed in December.

Quick Play
The recent Policy changes to reduce the time to complete a Round have had a positive impact – thank you for your efforts. This is vital as we try to capitalise on the enormous growth in Golf over the past few months and generate revenue which keeps Membership Fees low and enables continued improvement of your facilities. One of these innovations is the 1st Tee Camera to follow the Field as it tees off (or not, as the case may be!).

Timesheets
Several weeks ago, I noted that Your Board was actively working with MiClub to improve the bookings’ process. I am happy to advise that these changes were implemented on 14 September. However, unfortunately, it appears that some Members continued to wilfully manipulate the system until this change; they should expect an invitation to discuss this, in person, with Your Board.

Restrictions Lifted
2 people per cart (with one nominated driver) will be permitted from Saturday 26 September and the Gaming Room re-opens on Friday 25th September – thank you for your patience.

“There is so much to like about Spring!”

Happy Golfing,

Mark Mathieson – President
