November Count Down

Melbourne Cup
Christmas starts on the first Tuesday of November, right? If you do not believe me, visit your local Shopping Mall! Before that, however, is the Melbourne Cup and it is not too late to get a table at the Club which includes a Dragon on the Green Banquet, Drinks option, TAB and lots more.

Club Person of the Year
Congratulations to our 4 Nominees: Gordon Edwards, Joan Flaherty, Jacky Parsons and Phil Town. Voting will open on Friday 7 next week. Please get behind your favourite and vote before December 4. Your Club Person of the Year will be announced at the Club Christmas party on Saturday 5 December (details to follow).

Financial Performance
The Club finished the Quarter with a positive EBITDA of $468K (up $337K on last year) due to both Government Relief and the significant uptake in Golf bookings with September Golf bookings alone up $30K on last year. September positive EBITDA of $72K was improved by Job Keeper (also $72K) and ATO Cash Boost of $12.5K. However, Your Board, in consultation with the Appointed Auditor, took the opportunity to expense a one-off Write-off of $60K for Special Projects, so as not to further burden depreciation in the future.

Pennants
The interrupted Men’s Pennants Semi-Final against Twin Creeks will be held at the Club on Sunday 22nd November. Make a note in your Diary and come and see how the real golfers do it. It is also pleasing to note that both Encourage Shield and Junior Pennants have been reinstated.

TAB
The TAB has been operational for several weeks and has been a tremendous success with many members and guests enjoying the Club amenities rather than relocating to competitive venues. No doubt it will continue to be popular during the Spring Carnivals.

Green Fees
To try and assist in the increased wear and tear of the Course, Public Green Fees have been increased by $3. In addition, Member Guests’ discounts have been standardised to be $10 less than the Public Green Fee on the day.

Timesheets
The updated Lottery Booking system has seen a significant reduction in the number of concerns raised by Members. Your Golf Committee continues to monitor this important Member service.

Restrictions Lifted
As restrictions continue to ease, please be mindful that this insidious enemy continues to lurk within our society. May I reinforce the importance of staying safe – including not touching Flags or Lifters, social distancing, sanitising and not entering the Club if you feel unwell.

Happy Golfing,

Mark Mathieson – President
