User Pays Model

Over the past year I have had the difficult task of breaking bad news to Members on several occasions.

 Today is different.

I am pleased to inform Members that Your Club has performed extraordinarily well over the last 3 months.

In fact, the latest Quarterly Financial Report (9 Months to November) shows a net Profit of $231,898 compared to a net Loss of $124,336 last year. Members should be aware that this is artificially inflated by $574,000 as a result of the Stimulus Packages which included the JobKeeper and CashBoost schemes, however approximately $204,000 of this was spent on special Projects (e.g. Cool Room, Bars, Pathway, etc.).

This has allowed Your Board to reduce the planned $3 increase per Competition Round; instead, from 1 March the cost of Competitions will only increase by $1.

Your Board has also received significant feedback about the number of Members playing Social Rounds. After careful consideration, from 1 March, for a 6 month trial period, the following will apply to Member Social Rounds:

  • No Charge on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday;
  • No Charge on any day after 4pm during Twilight times and after 3pm in non-Twilight times; and
  • $5 per Member Social Round before 4pm (or 3pm) on Thursday to Sunday.

Your Board hopes that this new “user pays” model will help achieve the following:

  • Retain a relatively low minimum Annual Subscription that represents excellent value for money;
  • Encourage Members to play outside of the busy weekend periods;
  • Encourage Members to join who can only play 3-4 times a month due to family and work commitments;
  • Allow Your Club to fund much-needed improvements and equipment.
  • For example, quiet electric mowers so that mowing can be done earlier to enable more tee off times and better playing conditions;
  • Reduce our Bank Overdraft facility to manageable levels; and
  • Importantly, build a sustainable Golf Club that will provide Members with one of the best facilities for many years to come.

From Wednesday 3 February, “Nearest the Pin” will return. Members are encouraged to use Hand Sanitiser before and after touching the Markers and should not touch them at all unless needing to make and record a measurement. Your Board is currently reviewing the additional COVID Local Rules and will make further announcements in the coming weeks.

Members are encouraged to attend an Information Night on Thursday 4 March at 6pm during which Your Board will provide an insight into the Membership, Sporting, Financial, Administrative and Operational aspects of Your Club. Members will also have the opportunity to ask questions in an informal setting with light snacks and refreshments provided.
