More Success for North Ryde Golfers

Congratulations to a couple of North Ryde Golfers who have done well over the last week Nathan Barbieri & Madison Woodley.

Nathan Barbieri, who has recently turned professional after a great amateur career has been playing in a series of events down in Victoria. Last week Nathan lead the field during round one and was 8 under par through 15 holes but a couple of late dropped shots saw him finish at 5 under. Nathan finished the tournament 1 shot off qualifying for the last day match play section.

With some new confidence Nathan teed it up in the next tournament players series event hosted by Geoff Ogilvy. Nathan fired a 10 under par round of 61 to lead the field by 3 shots. Second position was in fact Geoff himself. Geoff made comment that he didn’t see anyone shooting a 10 under and he was pleased with his own round. The tournament has a host of well-known Australian tournament pros playing which include a major champion, US tour players, Web. Com players, European tour winners and Japanese tour players. Great to see one of our own playing great golf and looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for Nathan.      Good luck over the next 3 days.

Another Member playing well this week was Madison Woodley. Madison played in the NSW Amateur Championships at Magenta Shores and Koonindah Waters golf clubs. After 36 holes Madison was equal 16th and with 16 players going through to the match play section of the event it was onto a playoff. Madison won the first playoff hole and moved into the final 16. Unfortunately Madison was defeated in the first round by the number 1 qualifier. It was the first time Madison had made it through to a State event final series and there was a lot learnt from the experience.
