Always look on the…

I am cautiously optimistic that, as we navigate our way through the next few weeks, there is a lot to look forward to.

First off, a big thank you to all Members for their support and patience over another trying winter. During this time, Your Board and Management has been very busy and I’d like to take you through some of the important recent decisions and our plans over the coming months.

Secondly, with the imminent re-introduction of 4-player groups and outdoor gatherings of 5 people, please make an appointment with the Office or see a Duty Director to show your Vaccination Certificate. This will ensure that you are able to play in 4s and, likely soon, enter the Club (Note: for your own privacy we recommend against emailing a copy of your Certificate in).

Starting next week, with the annual course renovations, Members will see several projects undertaken, including:

  • Repairs to the bitumen in the Members’ Car Park
  • New Practice Nets being constructed behind the 2nd Green (completion mid-October)
  • Removal of old Practice Nets (October)
  • 18th Green upgrade in early November to move more right of the boundary fence and down towards the big tree in front of the 10th (which will be removed). This project will take several months, and the 2nd hole will be split into two temporary holes, as has been done with previous renovations. Seeding of the new Green, etc. is expected to be completed in December with the hole likely to reopen in February/March depending on growth and weather, etc.
  • Installation of the On-Pin Verifeye system to assist in management of course bottlenecks, peak periods, and better course utisation on quieter days. All Members will receive a personalised bag tag as part of this, to provide important information to assist in our Covid-Safe planning and response.
  • Installation of new Camera’s in the Car Park for member and guest security.
  • A Deck is being planned to overlook the new 18th Green and will join the course and the upstairs balcony via the back staircase.

The planned Deck is the start of a very important initiative to join the Clubhouse to the Course and builds on the Halfway Bar initiative last year. Outdoor facilities will be highly sought after for the foreseeable future and we hope that these improvements allow Members improved access, new views and Covid-Safe options. Plans are also underway to change the area between the Proshop and the new Nets to improve traffic flow and increase safety.

Your Board is looking at a Clubhouse “master plan” that includes several exciting projects and will share additional details over the coming months, including:

  • The placement of solar panels and the replacement of several old air conditioners on the roof reducing our environmental footprint and lowering operational costs
  • Repurposing and refurbishment of the administration and storage areas
  • New Member facilities

Finally, I’d like to publicly thank and recognise Your Board for the countless volunteered hours throughout Winter and before. Without them, times would have been even more difficult and the future much less rosy.
